Day 13, 1-30-07

Parker battled a fever all day and through the night on Monday. It never got over 102 but I'm thinking we need it to completely go away to assist in recovery. I might not always get everything completely right because there is so much information given to us daily that by the time I process it some details might come out wrong. On Monday they did not reduce the ventilator at all and it may have been because Dr. Griggs indicates that the collapsed lung is still very sick and still a concern. He is off blood pressure medicine and seemed to do ok. They are slowly reducing Parker's sedation meds. Parker is a cautious child anyway and he is getting a little anxious the more they wake him up. It has to be a little scary for him. Again, we thank you all for all your support, prayers, and words of encouragement. It is helping us get through this process! Love, Kay

They are replacing Parker's tube in his throat this morning because Dr. Griggs feels that too much air is being lost around the first tube. When he first was put on the ventilator his throat was swollen because of the strep so they had to use a smaller tube. Now that the swelling has gone down air is able to leak around and come back out. They are changing some of his meds/antibiotics and feel that the combination of the 2 will aid the sick lung. Parker is getting incredible care, Dr. Griggs and his staff are on top of everything!

OUR GOD IS AN AWESOME GOD! Keep Praying!

Kay,

After seeing you and Parker at the hospital I found out how to get into the blog. We at Care Ministeries continue to hold you and your family close to our hearts and sending prayers for Parker's healing.

Yours In Christ
